Why Pride: DBT for LGBTQIA+?
LGBTQIA+ adults are facing disproportionate levels of emotional distress and discrimination:
- 41% report experiencing depression, compared to 22% of the general population
- Transgender individuals face nearly 12 times the risk of suicide attempts
- Political attacks, anti-LGBTQ+ legislation, and systemic oppression fuel anxiety and trauma
- Affirming, specialized care remains difficult to access
Pride can help. This extended, structured group empowers LGBTQIA+ individuals with real tools to manage emotion, cope with oppression, and build connection in a space where they are deeply seen and supported.
Program Highlights:
- Virtual & Accessible: No transportation barriers; join from anywhere within Minnesota
- Weekly 3-Hour Sessions: Held Fridays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
- Rolling Enrollment: Join as space opens—no need to wait months
- Tailored DBT Curriculum: Built for LGBTQIA+ adults, with space to identify skills to support identity, systemic harm, and internalized stigma
- Affirming Environment: Led by clinicians experienced in LGBTQIA+ mental health and culturally responsive DBT
Who It’s For:
- LGBTQIA+ adults (18+) struggling with chronic depression, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, difficulty with communication, passive safety concerns, trauma, etc.
- Those experiencing internal or external conflict around identity
- Individuals needing more structured, skills-based support than weekly therapy alone
- Anyone seeking an affirming, validating space to grow and heal
Some participants may be managing trauma or returning from hospitalization. Many are simply navigating the daily exhaustion of living authentically in a world that often doesn’t support them. This group is a safe space to rebuild strength, connection, and hope.
